Max George withdraws from press interviews for ITV's The Games following the death of his best friend Tom Parker.

The Wanted's Max George has reportedly dropped out of his press interview day for The Games following the tragic death of his bandmate Tom Parker.

Parker - George's best friend - died at the age of 33 last month after a battle with an inoperable brain tumour, leaving behind a wife and two young children.

George, 33, is part of the lineup for ITV's new reality show The Games, which airs next month and see celebrities compete in a series of Olympics-style events.

The cast have been undertaking press promo duties in recent days but according to The Sun, George felt unable to speak to the media so soon after his friend's death.

"Max pulled out of the press day at the last minute because he isn't in a good space following Tom's death," a source told the newspaper.

"He has been finding it tough to talk and although there were no questions allowed about Tom, Max felt he wasn't strong enough to face a lot of people.

"Tom's death has hit him very hard and he is working through his grief with the support of everyone at The Games.

"He has told bosses he is determined to compete and give it his all on the live shows. He will be competing in Tom's honour and will be pushing himself to his limit for him."

The Games begins on ITV on May 9.
