Ninja Warrior UK is to return to ITV after a three-year break with an even "tougher" format, the broadcaster has announced.
The extreme competition sees contestants battle their way through a physical obstacle course in order to become the Last Ninja Standing and take on the final challenge, Mt Midoriyama.
When the show returns for its new series, it will seek to crown a male champion and a female champion for the first time with contestants facing "new courses, new obstacles and even bigger challenges", including head-to-head battles.
Original presenters Ben Shephard, Rochelle Humes and Chris Kamara will all return for the new instalment, which will play out over eight episodes.
"Ninja Warrior is a global phenomenon and one of the most fun and physically demanding shows on TV," said Shephard.
"The new format on ITV will see our daredevil contestants racing over challenging obstacles like you've never seen before.
"The Lycra and Ninja headbands are back - and that's just for me and Kammy! Seriously, I can't wait to be back alongside Kammy and Rochelle - it's going to be epic."
The new series will be filmed this summer for broadcast on ITV later this year.
