Channel 4 has commissioned a new reality show following a group of "adventurous young backpacking Brits" living and working together on a farm in the Australian outback.

The six-episode Outback Brits will see the 12 youngsters thrown out of their comfort zone as they "work hard on the farm by day and let loose at night".

The backpackers will not be able to let too loose, however, as they run the risk of being sent home by the farmers if they fail to cut it in their new environment.

Anna Miralis, senior commissioning editor at C4, said: "The series is guaranteed to be an outstanding, incredibly challenging and a rich adventure in one of the most beautiful parts of the Outback.

"I'm in no doubt this will be a life changing experience for our young, dynamic and fearless Brits as they grab the farm work by the horns and grapple with the numerous tasks set before them."

The show is expected to air on Channel 4 later this year.
