Bill Cosby is working on a new stage show about his time in prison, according to the disgraced comedian's publicist.

Bill Cosby is working on a new stage show following his shock release from prison last week, his publicist has revealed.

The 83-year-old was almost three years into a prison term for sexual assault when the Supreme Court in Pennsylvania quashed his conviction on a technicality on June 30.

As a result, the veteran entertainer was released from jail immediately, insisting in a statement afterwards that the "rule of law" had been upheld.

Cosby had faced allegations from at least 60 women that he had drugged and raped them over a period spanning six decades, although due to statute of limitations only one of the allegations was allowed to make it to court.

Speaking to the Los Angeles Times, Cosby's publicist Andrew Wyatt claimed that the disgraced comedian has begun work on a new stage show that will see him make observations about reform of the criminal justice system.

Wyatt added that the show, which he described as "vintage storytelling", is being earmarked for a run in the US, Canada and London.

On Cosby's current wellbeing, he added: "In his physical appearance, he's exuberant. In his mental state, he's exuberant. In his feelings and humour, he's exuberant."

Cosby is also working on a book detailing his time in jail, as well as a five-part TV series documenting his experience.
