Scarlett Johansson and Disney reach an out-of-court agreement over her lawsuit about the release of Black Widow.

Scarlett Johansson and Disney have reached a settlement agreement after she sued the company over the straight-to-streaming release of Black Widow earlier this year.

In the lawsuit, the actress alleged that she had missed out on lucrative bonuses following Disney's decision to make the movie available on Disney+ the same day that it came out in cinemas.

Disney refuted the allegations but nonetheless has reached a financial settlement with Johansson, although it is unclear how much of the $50m (£36.9m) she was seeking in damages she managed to get.

"I am happy to have resolved our differences with Disney," she said in a statement.

"I'm incredibly proud of the work we've done together over the years and have greatly enjoyed my creative relationship with the team. I look forward to continuing our collaboration in years to come."

Alan Bergman, Disney's chairman of content, added: "I'm very pleased that we have been able to come to a mutual agreement with Scarlett Johansson regarding Black Widow.

"We appreciate her contributions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and look forward to working together on a number of upcoming projects, including Disney's Tower of Terror."

With her movies bringing in a total of over $14 billion (£10.3 billion) to date, Johansson ranks as one of the highest-grossing box office stars of all time.
