Kye Whyte, BMX silver medallist at Tokyo 2020, joins the lineup for the next series of Dancing On Ice.

Team GB BMX cyclist Kye Whyte has been named as the ninth celebrity taking part in next year's Dancing On Ice.

The 22-year-old, who won silver at the Tokyo Olympics over the summer, joins a lineup that also includes Coronation Street legend Sally Dynevor, rugby player Ben Foden, S Club 7 singer Rachel Stevens and dancer Brendan Cole.

"I think I was the last person to get selected," Whyte told CBBC's Newsround. "I was not told not to tell anyone and I've been waiting for the big reveal! My family knows. My dad and my brother roller-skate so I think they're excited.

"When I did the audition I kind of related it to roller-skating so I think I did pretty well... I think the thing I'm really confident about is I don't really mind if I fall, I'm quite fearless."

He added: "I think I can win Dancing On Ice. I'd love to see if I can make the final because, as I said, I'm very competitive. You know what? I want to make the final!"

The new series of Dancing On Ice starts on ITV in January.
