Sunday Express editor Mick Booker appointed GB News editorial director
GB News brings in veteran tabloid journalist Mick Booker as its new editorial director.

Veteran tabloid journalist Mick Booker has been appointed as the new editorial director at GB News.

Booker has served as editor on the Sunday Express since 2018 and deputy editor of the Daily Express since 2011, having previously spent a decade working on the Daily Star.

In recent years he has become a familiar face on the BBC and Sky's paper review programmes and is also a regular on LBC, Good Morning Britain and BBC Radio 5 Live.

In the new role Booker will provide "editorial leadership" across the entire GB News operation, which employs 120 journalists.

"GB News is without doubt one of the most exciting opportunities in British journalism for years," he said. "The chance to be part of it is just too good to miss."

GB News CEO Angelos Frangopoulos added: "Michael has a sharp instinct for the real stories that impact the people of the United Kingdom, and a deep understanding of how to include their voices in the national conversation."

Booker's hire comes weeks after Andrew Neil stepped down as the channel's lead presenter and chairman amid acrimonious circumstances.
