Sri Lanka have sent Kusal Perera home from their tour of New Zealand after he failed a drugs test.

It was revealed in a statement released by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) that Perera failed a random test taken during the recent home series against Pakistan.

SLC will now test his B sample to follow anti-doping regulations, but the 29-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman could be facing a lengthy ban from international cricket.

Kaushal Silva has been called up as Sri Lanka prepare to meet New Zealand in two Tests, five one-day internationals and two Twenty20 matches.
