Result: Asha Philip misses out on 100m medal

Team England's Asha Philip narrowly misses out on a medal in the women's 100m final at the Commonwealth Games, with Trinidad and Tobago's Michelle-Lee Ahye claiming gold.

Team England's Asha Philip has agonisingly missed out on a medal in the women's 100m final at the Commonwealth Games.

Philip looked well-placed to earn a spot on the podium until the final 20 metres of the race, when Jamaica's Gayon Evans tore past her on the outside lane to claim bronze in a personal-best time of 11.22s.

Just 0.07s separated Philip in fourth from silver medallist Christiania Williams, who pipped her compatriot Evans to second place by just one one-hundredth of a second.

The gold went to Michelle-Lee Ahye, though, as she led from start to finish to cross the line in 11.14s.

Ahye's time saw her become the first Commonwealth Games gold medallist for Trinidad and Tobago since 1998, and only the second for the country since the 1966 Games.

Ahye's compatriots Khalifa St Fort and Reyare Thomas finished sixth and seventh respectively, while Natasha Morrison of Jamaica came fifth and Ghana's Halutie Hor crossed the line in eighth place.
