Richard Gasquet booked his place in the last 16 of the Shanghai Masters thanks to a 6-4 3-6 6-4 victory over Vasek Pospisil this afternoon.
Frenchman Gasquet trailed the head-to-head record between the two players 2-1 heading into this encounter, but he looked to be on his way to levelling up that scoreline when he claimed the opening set thanks to one break of his Canadian opponent's serve.
Pospisil responded in the next set to force a decider, but just as he had done in the opener, it was Gasquet that progressed with another crucial break of serve.
He will now take on Australia's Bernard Tomic for a spot in the quarter-finals.
