British number three Naomi Broady moves into the world's top 100 for the first time in her career after defeating Robin Anderson in a second-tier WTA event in Midland.

British number three Naomi Broady has defeated Robin Anderson at a second-tier WTA event in the United States to move into the world's top 100 for the first time in her career.

The 25-year-old began 2016 with a quarter-final appearance at the ASB Classic in Auckland, and although she failed to qualify for the Australian Open, she continued her excellent start to the year by triumphing in Midland on Sunday afternoon.

Broady dropped the opening set to her American opponent in a tie-break but she stormed back to record a 6-7 6-0 6-2 victory.

The Stockport hitter is expected to move into 96th place in the world rankings on Monday, joining Johanna Konta and Heather Watson, who will be in 28th and 84th place respectively when the standings are updated.
