Number 10 seed Richard Gasquet takes one hour and 15 minutes to beat Leonardo Mayer in the second round of the Paris Masters.

Richard Gasquet booked his place in round three of the Paris Masters courtesy of a 6-2 7-5 win over Leonardo Mayer this afternoon.

The number 10 seed, who was playing in front of a home crowd, claimed the opening set in just 30 minutes thanks to two breaks of his Argentine opponent's serve.

Mayer provided more resistance during the second set which went with serve until, when he was 6-5 in front, Gasquet converted a decisive break-point opportunity to secure his victory.

The 2007 semi-finalist will now take on Japan's Kei Nishikori for a place in the last eight of the competition.
