Tomas Berdych has reached the quarter-finals of the Paris Masters after a straightforward 6-3 6-4 victory over Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

The Czech took less than an hour-and-a-half to vanquish his opponent, who could not keep up with the powerful, methodical strikes coming his way.

Tsonga managed to mount a small fightback in the second set when 4-0 down, but ultimately Berdych recovered from the scare to clinch the match.

Up next for the 30-year-old is a last-eight clash against world number one Novak Djokovic.
