British number one Andy Murray has confessed that he is yet to hit top form at the Monte Carlo Masters.
The Scot survived a scare to see off Benoit Paire 2-6 7-5 7-5 and reach the quarter-finals of the competition, but was quick to admit that he was far from his best.
"He played extremely well and I was a little slow. It was the first time that I had played him. He has a difficult game to work out," Murray told reporters after the win.
"He comes forward a lot, he is a fantastic athlete, lots of drop shots and a fabulous backhand.
"I was not perfect. I was not where I want to be. But now I have the chance to get better."
Murray will take on Milos Raonic in the last eight of the tournament.
