The Premier League is allegedly planning to merge its unsold TV rights packages into a single "super pack" bundled with a licence to screen near-live footage.
The English top flight has already offloaded five of its seven live packages, but is considering selling the remaining two 20-game bundles as a single package which includes additional clip rights, according to the Daily Mail.
Snapping up the "super pack" would reportedly allow the successful bidder to offer catch-up content and goal clips on matchdays, as well as screen 40 live games per season between 2019 and 2022.
Sky and BT, who claimed the other five packages between them, are said to be plotting a bid for the unsold packs, but reportedly face competition from tech firms such as Amazon and Facebook.
However, Sky would be ineligible to bid for a merged package of games as no broadcaster can claim the rights to screen 148 games, and it already has 128 for the 2019-22 seasons.
