A report claims that Manchester United have left behind 50 members of staff for their pre-season tour of the United States to save themselves £500,000.

Manchester United have reportedly saved themselves around £500,000 by axing 50 members of staff from their United States tour party.

According to the Daily Mail, the Red Devils have drastically cut down on the 150-strong contingent from 12 months ago.

Those to be left at home include those working for the club website and other departments behind the scenes.

The report suggests that the Premier League giants pay approximately £10,000 for each member of staff to be on tour for the duration of the 17-day trip.

Certain staffers were allegedly only told about United's decision to leave them behind last week.
