Justin Rose has hailed Jordan Spieth after the Texan won The Masters at Augusta on Sunday.

The 21-year-old became the second youngest Masters winner of all time after finishing 18 under par in Georgia, and Rose, who finished on -14, was full of praise for the newly-crowned champion.

"Jordan did what he had to do," Rose told Sky Sports News. "He obviously got out the gates well [with two birdies] and he did exactly what he needed to do and when he did show a chink in the armour, he always managed to knock in a good putt to keep the momentum.

"Someone needed to get really hot today to chase him and maybe I had that in my earlier round, but I continued to be patient and it's always good when hard work pays off.

"Fourteen under par around this golf course is a good effort and if I keep playing golf like that, I'll have a chance [to win] championships like this in the future. I feel like my game can get stronger going into the summer now."

Meanwhile, Spieth talked up the "most incredible week" of his life after the win.
