Lewis Hamilton: 'We didn't have the pace to keep up with Ferrari'

Lewis Hamilton says that he will do everything he can to move up the grid in Sunday's Singapore Grand Prix after a difficult qualifying session.

Lewis Hamilton has said that Mercedes simply didn't have the pace in Saturday's Singapore Grand Prix qualifying session.

The defending world champion will start fifth in Sunday's race while teammate Nico Rosberg will be right behind him in sixth.

It has has been a difficult weekend for Mercedes so far as they have failed to keep up with the pace of the Ferrari and Red Bull but Hamilton says he will give it everything to make up for it.

"It is what it is today; I enjoyed it out there but we just didn't have the pace," Hamilton told reporters after qualifying.

"We weren't surprised with the pace of the Ferrari as it was like that the whole weekend.

"Tomorrow is going to be hard; it's difficult to overtake but I'm still excited, I'll be pushing hard and will do everything I can to make up positions."

The Singapore Grand Prix begins at 1.00pm.
