Mercedes boss Toto Wolff says that a mechanical breakdown would be a "nightmare" for Lewis Hamilton in the final race of the season in Abu Dhabi.

Mercedes boss Toto Wolff is desperate for drivers Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg to avoid any mechanical difficulties in the final race of the Formula 1 season in Abu Dhabi.

Hamilton currently has a 17-point lead over his teammate in the driver rankings, but the season-ending showpiece offers double points.

"Clearly Lewis breaking down would be a nightmare," BBC Sport quotes Wolff as saying. "We want the championship to end in a straight and fair battle and not by one of them breaking down."

Hamilton will clinch the title if he finishes first or second in Sunday's race.
