Marussia test driver Maria de Villota sustains "life threatening" injuries after crashing into a lorry.

Marussia test driver Maria de Villota has sustained "life-threatening" injuries after crashing a Formula 1 car in Cambridgeshire.

The East of England Ambulance have confirmed that the 32-year-old Spaniard, who pummeled into a lorry at Duxford after completing a lap of the circuit, is currently receiving treatment in hospital.

Ambulance spokesman Gary Sanderson said: "A woman has sustained life-threatening injuries and following treatment at the scene by paramedics, she has been taken to Addenbrookes Hospital for further care."

De Villota is the daughter of former Formula 1 driver Emilio.
