West Ham United legend Billy Bonds has claimed that the London Stadium "isn't a football ground".

The 70-year-old, who made 799 appearances for the Hammers during his career, has criticised the lack of atmosphere at the ground, which staged the 2012 Olympics.

West Ham moved to the Stratford-based stadium in the summer after spending 112 years at Upton Park, but they have not yet managed to go on a winning run at the ground, having lost their last two games there.

"I went to the Bournemouth game and I was sat behind the media," Bonds told fan site KUMB.com. "It just seemed miles away from the pitch and you couldn't get the atmosphere up there.

"Personally speaking, I don't think it's a football ground. I can honestly say that. That's not to say I didn't moan about it when we were moving, but I didn't share a lot of opinions about it because we were going to move anyway, so it didn't matter.

"It doesn't matter that it's not a football ground because we're going to be there for a long, long time. It's still our home. We don't own the place and there are a lot of problems with that going on as we all know, but it's still where our team are going to play and if you're a West Ham supporter then you're going to embrace it."

The Hammers are 18th in the Premier League table after four defeats and just one victory.
