West Bromwich Albion manager Alan Pardew says that he is "really proud" of his players after battling to a 3-2 win over Liverpool to reach the last 16 of the FA Cup.

Alan Pardew has challenged his West Bromwich Albion players to use Saturday's 3-2 victory over Liverpool in the FA Cup as inspiration for their Premier League relegation battle.

The Baggies picked up a famous win at Anfield to make it through to the last 16 of the competition in an absorbing match that will be best remembered for the repeated use of VAR.

Pardew has seen his squad depleted by illness over the last few days, but the battling display on show at Anfield offers the Albion boss hope that things could now change in their favour as they attempt to avoid the drop.

"We were showing signs of it but now we need to deliver the points in the Premier League," he told BT Sport. "We will need to patch ourselves up though as it's not ideal we are playing Manchester City on Wednesday.

"But I'm really proud of my players and all credit to Liverpool too for the way they handled themselves during those VAR decisions."

West Brom are 19th in the Premier League table, but they are just three points adrift of Bournemouth in 12th place.
