Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster confirms that his test for coronavirus came back negative.

Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster has tested negative for coronavirus.

The Hornets keeper was tested for COVID-19 last week after experiencing flu-like symptoms, as Watford were forced to cancel last Thursday's training session after a number of players fell ill.

However, the 36-year-old has confirmed that the results came back negative, and he has since lifted the lid on what life is like without football during the Premier League's suspension.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Foster said: "I was actually fairly ill last week, to the point the club were quite concerned it might be coronavirus so they sent a nurse down to do a test on me, but thankfully it was negative. I just had a cold.

"Once I got the results though to say it was not coronavirus, I was like, 'right I need to start doing something', because I was pulling my hair out.

"It is very boring. I am probably doing the same as most people. I am watching a lot of Netflix, watching TV, reading random and weird stuff, anything to pass the time.

"We are off until Friday now, so in the meantime it is a case of doing as much gym work and strengthening as you can and I am out on the bike as much as I can.

"You have just got to get your head down and get on with it."

Foster has kept nine clean sheets in 29 league appearances for Nigel Pearson's side this season as they lie 17th in the table.
