Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce will reportedly step down from his position if the Black Cats are relegated to the Championship this season.

Sam Allardyce has reportedly decided to step down if he is unable to keep Sunderland in the Premier League.

Yesterday's 3-0 victory away at fellow strugglers Norwich City has moved the Black Cats to within one point of safety.

There have previously been suggestions that 61-year-old Allardyce had informed the club's board that he would remain in charge next season, regardless of what division they were in.

However, The Mirror has now claimed that the experienced boss has no plans to embark on a campaign in the Championship.

The report adds that Allardyce may even decide to call time on his managerial career.
