How Tottenham Hotspur could line up against Manchester City

Sports Mole looks at how Tottenham Hotspur could line up for their Premier League clash with Manchester City on Saturday evening.

Just days after a gruelling 120 minutes of football in the FA Cup against Everton, Tottenham Hotspur face an equally taxing trip to Manchester City in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

One of the games of the season at Goodison Park saw Tottenham and Everton tied 4-4 after 90 minutes, but Bernard eventually won the game for the Toffees as yet another shot at silverware passed Spurs by in midweek following that 5-4 defeat.

Jose Mourinho has now witnessed his side lose four of their last five in all competitions, although they did record a vital win over West Bromwich Albion last time out in the league, and eighth-placed Spurs overcame Man City 2-0 earlier in the campaign.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Tottenham could line up for Saturday's battle.

POSS TOT XI vs. MNC

Out: Sergio Reguilon (muscle), Giovani Lo Celso (hamstring)
Doubtful: Serge Aurier (knock), Gareth Bale (muscle)

Giovani Lo Celso found the back of the net alongside Son Heung-min in November's smash-and-grab victory over Man City, but the Argentine is still sidelined with a hamstring problem and will not get the chance to build on that goal this time around.

Lo Celso is being kept company in the infirmary by Sergio Reguilon, whose absence guarantees a start for Ben Davies at left-back, and Mourinho has a fresh concern on the other side of the defence as well.

The knock that Serge Aurier sustained against West Brom kept him out of the Everton game, and while he could play a part this weekend, Matt Doherty will likely feature from the first whistle and try to quell a rampant City attack.

Davinson Sanchez's two goals against Everton may not be enough to see him keep his place as Joe Rodon looks to impress, while Mourinho has conceded that Eric Dier is struggling for confidence, so the Englishman might not be selected for this game.

With Tanguy Ndombele likely to move into a more advanced midfield role ahead of Erik Lamela, Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko will do battle for a spot alongside the ever-present Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, and the latter could get the nod to face City.

Gareth Bale's absence in midweek also raised a few eyebrows, and Mourinho has now revealed that the Welshman is working with sports scientists to overcome some muscular discomfort, but it would be a shock to see his name on the teamsheet either way.

Steven Bergwijn has flattered to deceive recently and could be demoted to the bench by Lucas Moura, while Harry Kane - searching for his 25th goal contribution of the Premier League season - is nailed on to spearhead the attack after coming off the bench to equalise at Goodison Park.
