Moussa Sissoko 'will give Tottenham Hotspur another option offensively', according to France international teammate Hugo Lloris.

Hugo Lloris has backed international teammate Moussa Sissoko to provide 'something different' at Tottenham Hotspur after completing a deadline-day switch.

The powerful French midfielder was announced as a Spurs player on Wednesday evening, having also been strongly linked with Real Madrid and Everton during the summer transfer window.

Questions remain over whether Spurs have overpaid for the 27-year-old, who was valued at £30m by Newcastle United, but Lloris has no doubt that Sissoko - one of France's standout performers at Euro 2016 - has plenty to offer at White Hart Lane.

"I know him very well, we have been together with the national team for a while," the Daily Star quotes the Spurs skipper as saying. "I think he's the kind of player that can help the team to achieve good things and, for sure, he will adapt quickly to our philosophy and our style.

"He is very powerful and I think he is a different profile of player for us, so he will give us another option offensively. The good thing is that he's played in the Premier League for a while so he knows the competition well and he's a high-level player because he's played for the national team too. I think it's very good for Tottenham that he's here."

Sissoko revealed upon being unveiled as a Spurs player that Lloris played a key part in his decision to swap Newcastle for Tottenham.
