Mousa Dembele believes that Tottenham Hotspur will have a "special year" in the Premier League.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Mousa Dembele has claimed that he expects the club to have a "special year", despite the lack of new signings.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino has not recruited any players so far this summer, but his rivals Arsenal, Manchester City, Liverpool and Manchester United have all strengthened.

Spurs have had more outgoings, with first-team right-back Kyle Walker being one of them, and now Danny Rose is being linked with Manchester United and Inter Milan.

Last season, the North London outfit finished second in the Premier League table, seven points adrift of champions Chelsea.

"The way we have played the last few years, there is a lot of confidence in the team," Dembele told Sky Sports News. "The biggest aim was to keep everyone together. It's a positive thing.

"We've played a few years together and everybody knows their role in the team. This year is going to be a special year for us I think."

Tottenham will kick off the new season with a trip to St James' Park to face Newcastle United on Sunday.
