Davies: 'Spurs expecting City backlash'

Tottenham Hotspur left-back Ben Davies is expecting a backlash from Manchester City as the two sides clash in the Premier League this weekend.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies has admitted that his side are expecting a backlash from Manchester City on Saturday.

The league leaders have been defeated in each of their last three games, knocking them out of the Champions League and prolonging their quest for the top-flight title in the process.

City lost 5-1 on aggregate to Liverpool in the quarter-final of the Champions League, while their loss to Manchester United on Sunday was a missed opportunity to win the Premier League crown against their rivals.

On the other hand, Spurs are undefeated in the league this calendar year, but Davies is still anticipating a tough game this weekend.

"I'm pretty sure they are going to be desperate for the win after the results they have had this week," he told Sky Sports News.

"It's been a sticky patch for them but they have been flawless this season. It is going to be a tough game, we are definitely expecting them to come all guns blazing and we've got to be ready for that."

Tottenham's last league defeat was at the Etihad Stadium in December, in a 4-1 thumping from the hosts.

"I think it was just how organised they were. They knew their roles down to a man on the pitch. They made it tough, they moved the ball quickly and on the day they were the better team. But it is another game this time, it is a different time of the season and we've got to be confident going into it. It's going to be a tough game, of course, but we've got to be ready."

Spurs are currently fourth in the Premier League table, 17 points behind Saturday's opponents.
