Keylor Navas insists that he "does not have to prove anything to anyone" after seeing his position as Real Madrid number one called into question.

Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas has insisted that he does not fear losing his number-one spot, amid ongoing reports linking the club with a move for Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Los Blancos are understood to be at the front of the queue to sign the Spain international from Athletic Bilbao in the New Year, having grown frustrated in their pursuit of David de Gea and Thibaut Courtois.

Navas, who returned to action earlier this week following more than a month away with an abductor injury, is remaining defiant, however, as he believes that he has more than proved his worth at the Bernabeu.

"I don't have to prove anything to anyone," he told Fox. "I have to enjoy my career and be at Real Madrid. You never know what will happen in the future and I have to be calm but, at the moment, I'm the one who is here.

"I'm going to keep giving my best so that the people who don't believe in me start to do so, and enjoy things with me."

Kiko Casilla has provided back-up from the bench this season, featuring 10 times in all competitions.
