Fabio Cannavaro has revealed that he 'dreams' of becoming the manager of former club Real Madrid.

The World Cup-winning defender led Tianjin Quanjian to the Chinese Super League crown this month, but is keen to return to the European game and has also name-checked Italy as a potential future job.

"It is my dream to coach Real Madrid," Cannavaro told Marca. "The Italian national team, too. If you don't have these types of goals, it is better not to start coaching in the first place."

The 43-year-old, who represented Real Madrid as a player between 2006 and 2009, has been in charge of Guangzhou Evergrande, Al-Nassr and Tianjin Quanjian since retiring from professional football in 2011.
