Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal says that his team did not deserve to lose their back-to-back home matches to Barcelona.

Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal has insisted that his team did not deserve to lose their back-to-back home matches to Barcelona.

Barca recorded a 3-0 victory against Madrid in the second leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final on Wednesday, before running out 1-0 winners in the same stadium in the league on Saturday.

Carvajal, however, has said that the Copa del Rey result 'flattered' the visitors, while his team "had chances to score" in the La Liga clash.

"I think they were two closely contested games. In the Copa, the result was flattering on Barcelona, and in the league game we had chances to score," Carvajal told reporters.

"The league title is now far away for us, and that hurts as this game was a chance to get back into the title race."

Madrid are now 12 points off La Liga leaders Barca, who are seven clear of second-placed Atletico Madrid at the summit.

Los Blancos are next in action on Tuesday night as they welcome Ajax to the Bernabeu for the second leg of their last-16 tie in the Champions League.
