Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema's record vs. Barcelona

Sports Mole looks at Karim Benzema's record against Barcelona ahead of Real Madrid's Copa del Rey clash with the Spanish champions.

Karim Benzema will be looking to add to the 20 goals that he has managed this season when Real Madrid welcome Barcelona to the Bernabeu for the second leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final on Wednesday night.

Benzema has thrived in the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo, scoring 20 times and registering seven assists in all competitions for the European champions during the 2018-19 campaign.

There will certainly be pressure on the striker to register in El Clasico, meanwhile, with the two teams level at 1-1 from the first leg of their last-four clash earlier this month.

Ahead of the midweek showdown in the Spanish capital, Sports Mole has taken an in-depth look at Benzema's record against Barca.

Benzema's scoring record against Barca is fairly modest, finding the back of the net on nine occasions in 33 appearances, in addition to registering eight assists.

The 31-year-old has also only won eight of his 33 matches against Barca, losing 16 times in the process, which is not a record that he will be proud of entering the latest Clasico.

Wednesday night will bring just his sixth Copa del Rey appearance against Barca, boasting a record of one win, three draws and one defeat from the previous five, scoring just once.

Benzema provided the assist for Lucas Vazquez to score in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final earlier this month, but he has not registered against Barca since the Spanish Super Cup at the start of last season.
