Ruud van Nistelrooy will leave his role as the assistant coach of the Netherlands to work with PSV Eindhoven's strikers next season.

Ruud van Nistelrooy has agreed to form part of the coaching staff at his former club PSV Eindhoven next season.

The 39-year-old, who will work with the strikers in the Under-17s, Under-19s and reserves, is currently the assistant to Netherlands head coach Danny Blind.

However, the ex-Manchester United centre-forward will depart that role to join the ranks at PSV.

"I'm really looking forward to my new job at PSV, where I'm going to help the young attackers maximise their potential," he told the club's official website.

Prior to joining United for £19m in 2001, Van Nistelrooy scored 75 goals in 91 outings for PSV.
