What the papers say
Speculation over Jose Mourinho's future at Manchester United continues to swirl ahead of this weekend's crunch game against Newcastle. The Daily Mirror reports a growing number of players have lost faith in the Portuguese and expect he will go. Some are said to be put out by his criticism of individuals while refusing to accept responsibility for the Reds' dismal start to the season. The Sun reports Alexis Sanchez has grown frustrated to the point that he has asked his agent how to address the issue. Former star Ryan Giggs has backed Mourinho, despite being tipped for the job himself. Fellow Old Trafford stalwart Paul Scholes has been less than complimentary, saying the manager is "embarrassing".

Zinedine Zidane wanted to poach three Manchester United players while he was in charge at Real Madrid, the Manchester Evening News reports. The European giants are said to have registered interest in David de Gea, Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial. Officials from the clubs are said to have met in Miami when the sides played a friendly in August, by which time Zidane, who has been tipped as a potential replacement for Mourinho, had departed.

Manchester City are after Swansea's rising star Joe Rodon, but he has been urged to stay put, the Daily Mirror reports. Pep Guardiola is said to be keeping an eye on the 20-year-old centre-half, who is on loan at Cheltenham. Swansea-born Rodon is due to be out of contract next summer and talks are said to be under way. Manager Graham Potter said they "need to do this quickly and it's something we're working on behind the scenes".
David Moyes' name has been added to the expanding list of potential successors for Steve Bruce. The Daily Express reports that Moyes, who has been out of a job since his caretaker role at West Ham failed to turn permanent, could take over at Aston Villa. The Scotsman has been touted along with Brentford manager Dean Smith, Shakhtar Donetsk boss Paulo Fonseca, former Villa defender John Terry, ex-Arsenal star Thierry Henry and Sam Allardyce.
