Real Madrid are holding off from making a formal approach for Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba until he demands a move, according to a report.

Paul Pogba has reportedly been told by Real Madrid to hand in a transfer request in order to force through his Manchester United exit.

The France international has publicly admitted that it is a "dream" of his to play for the La Liga giants, who are managed by one of his heroes in Zinedine Zidane.

Pogba is high on the list of Zidane's summer targets but, according to The Sun, Los Blancos are going to hold off from making a formal approach until the midfielder demands a move away.

Zidane is also rumoured to have told his compatriot that it is now or never in terms of putting on the famous Madrid shirt as the club are prepared to start looking elsewhere.

United vice-chairman Ed Woodward is reluctant to let Pogba leave, it is claimed, as he feels it would further damage the Red Devils' image.

Boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would allow the ex-Juventus ace to depart for the Bernabeu if his valuation was met, though, as it would bring in a further £120m to strengthen his squad.
