Tottenham Hotspur coach Mauricio Pochettino insists that he remains 'calm' despite talk of supposed interest in the player from Premier League rivals Manchester United.

Tottenham Hotspur coach Mauricio Pochettino has insisted that he remains calm over the future of midfielder Eric Dier despite reported interest from Manchester United.

Jose Mourinho is thought to be keen on a move for the Spurs holding man, as the Portuguese coach aims to bolster United's midfield ahead of the new Premier League season.

Dier is known to have been a boyhood fan of the Old Trafford club, but Pochettino has reiterated that the 23-year-old England international remains a key part of his plans at Tottenham.

"It's another rumour. Many many rumours. I try to be honest always and today it's so calm and Dier is our player," Pochettino told reporters before the club's recent friendly defeat to Manchester City.

"I think he's an important player for us and it's not the idea to sell him."

Dier has made 101 appearances for Spurs since arriving from Sporting Lisbon in 2014.
