Manchester United's hierarchy are reportedly refusing to sell flop forward Alexis Sanchez as they are still hopeful that he can rediscover his best form.

Manchester United are reportedly refusing to cut their losses with Alexis Sanchez, despite interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer raising doubts over the Chilean forward.

Sanchez has failed to replicate the type of form he regularly showed at Arsenal, where he spent three-and-a-half years before making the switch to Old Trafford.

Since arriving at United in January 2018, the 30-year-old has managed just five goals in 41 appearances and he is expected to miss the rest of this season through injury.

To make matters worse for the Red Devils, Sanchez is their highest-earning player on £500,000 a week and that is having a destabilising effect on contract negotiations with David de Gea.

The Evening Standard reports that the club's hierarchy have so far refused to contemplate selling the Chile international, however, in the hope that he can rediscover his finest form once overcoming his latest injury setback.

Solskjaer, expected to be named United's new permanent manager by the end of the week, has supposedly been told to ensure that he gets the best out of Sanchez, who also retains huge commercial appeal.
