Liverpool are reportedly prepared to rival Manchester United for Real Madrid attacker James Rodriguez, who would cost in excess of £50m.

Liverpool have reportedly decided to join the race to sign Real Madrid attacker James Rodriguez.

Since the start of 2017, Manchester United have been heavily linked with the Colombian international, who has only been used on a rotational basis at the Bernabeu this season.

The 25-year-old is allegedly in favour of a move to Old Trafford but according to Don Balon, Liverpool also hold an interest in the player.

Manager Jurgen Klopp is intent on making several major additions this summer and it has been suggested that he is willing to part with £52m in order to sign Rodriguez.

However, while the Merseyside giants seem the most willing to meet his asking price and could offer Rodriguez's best chance of first-team football, it has been claimed that moving to Anfield is not high on his list of priorities.

Liverpool have also been credited with an interest in Sporting Lisbon winger Gelson Martins.
