Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has paid tribute to Paul Pogba for his performance during the final 25 minutes of Sunday afternoon's loss at Watford.

Pogba, on the sidelines since the end of September with an ankle problem, travelled with the squad to Vicarage Road and was used in the 64th minute, replacing Jesse Lingard.

The France international helped the Red Devils create a string of late chances in the 2-0 defeat, and Solskjaer has said that the midfielder's return was "probably the only plus".

"The last half-hour when Paul came on was probably the only plus today, he gave us that little bit of edge, quality, urgency. Played some great passes over the top, played some nice combinations, he had a chance himself," Solskjaer told reporters.

"The boy has been working really hard to get fit. He could have played more but now let's see how he reacts to this."

United will be looking to return to winning ways when they welcome Newcastle United to Old Trafford on Boxing Day before finishing 2019 with a trip to Burnley on December 28.
