Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho says that he is really happy for Zlatan Ibrahimovic after his recent run of form in all competitions.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has suggested that he is pleased that Zlatan Ibrahimovic has proven people wrong this season.

Earlier this season, Ibrahimovic endured a spell where he only scored once in 11 outings, but 10 goals from his last nine appearances has seen him move to 16 for the season in all competitions.

Mourinho has opted to keep the veteran forward in the side, rather than rotate the 35-year-old, and the Portuguese has admitted that he is delighted with how the summer signing has fared this season.

The 53-year-old told reporters: "I'm really happy for him because maybe some people could think top scorer but not anymore at 35, not anymore because the Premier League is not Ligue 1 but 35 for him is the same as 25.

"He scores goals and plays well and I am really happy for him because he will end his career in a high, he's not ending his career in America or China so I'm really pleased with him, his record is good, it can improve, with no penalties, which is amazing.

"He had one penalty in 17 Premier League matches so I couldn't be happier for him."

It has recently been claimed that Ibrahimovic is ready to turn down a lucrative switch to the Chinese Premier League in order to remain at Old Trafford.
