Mkhitaryan: 'Joining Arsenal easy decision'

Henrikh Mkhitaryan appears to take a swipe at former club Manchester United by admitting that he 'dreams' of playing for an attack-minded side like Arsenal.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan has insisted that it was "not very difficult" to swap Manchester United for Arsenal when factoring in the Gunners' attacking style of play.

The Armenia international was used as a makeweight of sorts in the high-profile deal that saw Alexis Sanchez head to Old Trafford last week.

Mkhitaryan failed to make too much of an impression during his time at United, being restricted to 11 Premier League starts in the first half of 2017-18, but ahead of his Arsenal debut he admits to looking forward to featuring in a more adventurous side under Arsene Wenger.

"Of course it's very important to have respect from your manager," he told the club's official website. "I know that he's demanding and he likes his players to explore. He was one of the [reasons] to join Arsenal as well because everyone knows he's a great manager.

"I've known him for a long time and of course it was not very difficult to make this decision to come to Arsenal, because I think the way that Arsenal play [make] it a dream for every player to come here and play offensive football."

Mkhitaryan scored 13 times in 63 appearances for United during his 18 months at the club.
