Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho says that defender Phil Jones is likely to be sidelined for a month with a knee ligament injury.

Manchester United defender Phil Jones has been ruled out for a month after suffering a knee ligament injury.

After failing to make a first-team appearance for United since January, Jones had been working his way back to full fitness, but he was a notable absentee from the squad to face Feyenoord in the Europa League on Thursday night.

Ahead of the trip to the Netherlands, boss Jose Mourinho told reporters that the 24-year-old had suffered lateral knee ligament damage in training.

Jones has been with United since 2011 but during his five-year spell, he has been restricted to 140 appearances in all competitions.
