Solskjaer has returned to Manchester United as caretaker manager.

Norwegian Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been confirmed as Manchester United's interim manager until the end of the season.

Here, Press Association Sport looks at the Scandinavian coaches to have managed in the Premier League.

Michael Laudrup

The Dane was appointed manager of Swansea in June 2012. Laudrup impressed with his work in the transfer market, notably bringing in Spanish striker Michu for a bargain £2million from Rayo Vallecano. He led Swansea to their first major trophy by winning the League Cup in 2013 but was sacked a year later after a poor run of form.

Egil Olsen

In June 1999 Olsen became the first Norwegian to manage in the Premier League when he took over at Wimbledon. A wellington boot-wearing eccentric, his methods did not work in south London and he lasted less than a year, sacked just before the club were relegated.

Sven-Goran Eriksson

A familiar face on these shores following five years as England manager, Swede Eriksson had a season in charge of Manchester City, finishing ninth in 2007-08 and endearing himself to fans by winning both Manchester derbies, although they lost 8–1 to Middlesbrough on the final day.

The man himself has already had one crack at the Premier League and it did not go entirely to plan. Solskjaer took over at Cardiff in January 2014 but was unable to prevent them from being relegated and he was sacked the following September.
