Phil Jones believes that Manchester United would receive a boost going into the 2018-19 Premier League season by winning the FA Cup this Saturday.

Phil Jones has claimed that Manchester United would receive a boost going into the 2018-19 Premier League season by winning the FA Cup this month.

Although the Red Devils finished second in the table this term, they failed to mount a title challenge, Manchester City finishing 19 points clear at the summit.

However, Man United still have a chance of silverware as they lock horns with Chelsea at Wembley Stadium this Saturday for the chance to lift the FA Cup.

"It will be our last game of the season - if you win that, you finish on a positive note and you go into the next season feeling confident, ready to go and ready to battle again for the title," Jones told the Daily Mail.

"I really don't think we're far away. In another season we might have been challenging. Sometimes you've got to hold your hands up and say that Man City have done ever so well to win the league this year, take nothing away from them.

"They've competed well in every game and won games where you're thinking they probably would have drawn. I think winning the FA Cup and going into next season will be good for us."

Man United last won the FA Cup in 2016 and were last champions of England in 2013.
