Jurgen Klopp: 'Liverpool players will help silence Old Trafford'

Jurgen Klopp is confident that Liverpool can handle the atmosphere generated by Manchester United supporters at Old Trafford in Thursday evening's European showdown.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has vowed that his side's performance will dictate the atmosphere at Old Trafford during the Europa League clash with Manchester United.

The Reds head to the Theatre of Dreams on Thursday evening looking to protect a two-goal lead from last week's last-16 first-leg tie.

Anfield was in full voice to push Liverpool to a famous victory in the first ever European meeting between the two English heavyweights, but Klopp insists that his players will be able to cope with a similar atmosphere in Manchester.

"I like it. The atmosphere is loud too when all the people hate you," he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News. "I don't understand what the crowd is singing, so it's easy for me. In Liverpool, it was different.

"If we had played poorly, I'm sure it would have not been too easy, the same atmosphere. We will decide how good the atmosphere is on Thursday with our performance. We want to do our best and mean that it's difficult to enjoy the game for Man United."

Klopp will take his side to Old Trafford for the first time since replacing Brendan Rodgers last October, but no Liverpool manager has won their first fixture at the famous venue since George Kay in 1936.
