Manchester City defender Vincent Kompany sparks concern after suffering an injury during his comeback from a thigh problem.

Manchester City defender Vincent Kompany failed to finish tonight's EFL Cup match against Swansea City, sparking concern that he has suffered a fresh blow in his return from a thigh injury.

The Belgium international, who missed the closing stages of last season, made his first start since Pep Guardiola's arrival as manager.

Kompany could not complete 90 minutes, though, as he walked off the pitch and straight down the tunnel during City's 2-1 win over Swansea at the Liberty Stadium.

After the third-round tie, manager Pep Guardiola told reporters that Kompany's injury is unlikely to be "serious", but cannot be certain until he speaks to the club doctor.

Meanwhile, City will go head to head with local rivals Manchester United in the fourth round of the Cup.
