Newcastle United and Burnley will reportedly fight for Liverpool centre-back Nat Phillips, who enjoyed a breakthrough season with the Reds during the 2020-21 campaign.

Newcastle United and Burnley are reportedly ready to battle for Liverpool centre-back Nat Phillips.

It is claimed that Newcastle owner Mike Ashley has set aside £50m for Bruce this summer, and the Magpies will go in pursuit of Arsenal's Joe Willock and Liverpool's Nat Phillips.

The 24-year-old was given his opportunity by Jurgen Klopp during the 2020-21 campaign as the Liverpool manager faced an injury crisis in the heart of his defence, and Phillips stepped up to make 20 appearances in all competitions.

The Englishman's performances helped the Reds secure Champions League football for next season and Bruce is reportedly willing to put in a £10m offer, however the Daily Mail reports that the Toon Army will face competition from Sean Dyche's side.

Burnley centre-back James Tarkowski has been linked with a move to West Ham United, and should that deal materialise it will leave the Clarets with significant funds to enter a bidding war with Newcastle for Phillips.

After graduating from Liverpool's youth side, Phillips made his senior debut in January 2020 and has gone on to make 21 appearances for Klopp's side.
