Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp challenges his side to maintain their recent good form until the end of the season, having won their last four games in all competitions.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has challenged his side to maintain their recent form until the end of the season.

Goals from Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane handed the Reds a 2-0 win over Newcastle United on Saturday, making it four wins in a row across all competitions and just one defeat from their last 20 league outings.

The victory also lifted Liverpool up to second in the Premier League table, but Klopp immediately switched his focus to Tuesday's Champions League tie with Porto as they welcome the Portuguese outfit to Anfield boasting a 5-0 first-leg advantage.

"It's a good moment, we all know that. In 2018 we have had a few nice results, but nothing happened so far. We have to go again. We have to play against Porto at our best; they won all the league games since we played them, they are now five points in front," he told the club's official website.

"That's a tough game again, after that United. It's coming and coming and coming. We all know where we want to finish. This year, it's not possible to become the champions so try to finish as high as possible, that's what we try of course, and be in the Champions League again next year.

"That's all very important. So it's important the boys are in good shape. So far they are in good shape, but we still have a lot of work to do."

Liverpool will drop back down to third place if Manchester United beat Crystal Palace on Monday night.
