Leicester City regard Odsonne Edouard as long-term Jamie Vardy replacement?

Leicester City are reportedly likely to make an approach for Celtic forward Odsonne Edouard in one of the upcoming transfer windows.

Leicester City are reportedly expected to make a bid for Celtic forward Odsonne Edouard in the future.

Despite having just turned 34 years of age, Jamie Vardy is the recognised first-choice frontman at the King Power Stadium.

While there are no signs that his status will change in the near future, Brendan Rodgers will naturally be considering long-term replacements for the club legend.

According to talkSPORT transfer expert Alex Crook, Rodgers is interested in a reunion with Edouard, whom he worked with during his time in Glasgow.

Speaking to the radio station, Crook said: "One name that keeps coming up in conversations with people close to Leicester is Odsonne Edouard at Celtic. He's in the last 18 months of his contract, is reluctant to sign a new deal and could be available for £20m.

"That looks a shrewd bit of business for me, and they do need backup and even a long-term successor to Jamie Vardy, so watch that one between now and the end of the window."

The 23-year-old has endured a below-par campaign for Celtic this season, contributing just 11 goals from 24 appearances in all competitions.
