Report: Sabri Lamouchi resigns as Ivory Coast manager

Reports suggest that Sabri Lamouchi has resigned as manager of Ivory Coast following the Elephants' World Cup exit.

Sabri Lamouchi has reportedly stepped down as manager of Ivory Coast following their dramatic group-stage exit from the World Cup.

The Elephants were just seconds away from progressing through to the last 16 of the competition, but a late Giorgios Samaras penalty ensured that Greece would go through at their Group C rivals' expense.

Lamouchi, who was appointed to the African side in 2012 despite his lack of managerial experience, announced his decision to resign during his post-match press conference, according to BBC Sport.

Defeat for the Ivory Coast ensured that they have failed to progress through the group stage for the third World Cup in a row.
